If a_subscriber has Linux and Windows on partitions in the same computer, as in a dual boot arrangement, then he will be able to access his Windows data files from his Linux system but not his Linux data files from his Windows system. Likewise, when he is using the Windows guest, he will be able to drag or copy files to the shared folder and when he closes the guest Windows and VirtualBox, he will be able to access those files from Linux. If the original poster does not always want to open VirtualBox in his Linux system, he can copy or drag files to his shared folder so that on the occasion he runs VirtualBox and opens his Windows guest, he will be able to access those files. We can explain what he can and cannot do and hope that is helpful. However '(WITHOUT login to Windows machine)' is open to interpretation does the poster mean logging in to a Windows system or into a Windows guest within VirtualBox? Anyway, we don't need to fall out over that. We both know that a Windows system cannot see, let alone read and write to, an EXT partition and now a_subscriber will understand that too.
