If you care for your Kokedama well the plant itself will live a long and healthy life.Most kokedamas that have only had the bottom half soaked during watering will last for 1-2 years. Since natural materials and products are used to create Kokedamas it's normal for them to break down over time, especially due to being constantly exposed to water.
